EFFIGY has quickly established themselves on the Raleigh live music circuit as a standout powerhouse rock cover band who performs a high energy set that combines a mixture of hard rockin’ currents and classics from Johnny Cash to Metallica and everything in between. Hailed as “Raleigh’s Best New Rock Band” in 2008, EFFIGY is sweeping through the city and quickly spreading to surrounding areas, drawing enthusiastic crowds wherever they play. Every EFFIGY show delivers a high energy arena style act to the local stage with a dynamite laser and video infused show along with tight, on-the-money performances of of current and classic covers. EFFIGY breathes life back into the Triangle music scene with a heartfelt brutal honesty and display of energy that will leave you wanting more.
EFFIGY has grown from a local band into a strong regional act, taking their show on the road well outside their hometown Raleigh, NC area.
They are available to perform at clubs, weddings, private parties and promotional events anywhere along the eastern seaboard. Who is EFFIGY?
Mr. Smith – Frontman, Lead Vocals, Guitars
Mr. Smith is a vocal and guitar veteran with 25+ years of musical performance experience under his belt. Hailing from Jacksonville, Fla., he relocated to Raleigh, NC in 2006 after many years in the Florida music scene. Mr. Smith first performed in the Raleigh area as a solo artist with local greats such as Larry Woodard, producer John Custer and various Raleigh music veterans, earning himself a fast growing reputation as an energetic performer with a stage presence, vocal range, skill and diversity unmatched by anyone. Described as ‘Steven Tyler meets Vince Neil meets Anthony Kiedis’ mixed with his very own magnetic style that consistently pulls crowds from the depths of the club to the very front of the stage at every show. His ability to switch from rock to metal to country clearly demonstrates his massive arsenal of musical taste and talent. He joined EFFIGY in June 2007 and his signature style of delivery and energy are a key ingredient to the overwhelming response from EFFIGY’s audiences.
Steve Lane – Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals
Steve Lane studied guitar with world-renowned guitar virtuoso Greg Howe (Michael Jackson, Enrique Iglesias, N*Sync, Justin Timberlake) and led several cover bands in the northeast including Attractive Nuisance, Not Dead Yet, and Mopey Kidd. Steve also played lead guitar for international recording artist Sandra Carlucci and spent 2 years touring with her. Since relocating to the Triangle area in Dec. ’05, Steve recognized the need for a unique, high energy rock cover band, and is one of the driving forces behind the formation of EFFIGY. Steve’s experience and obvious talent shines through with every performance, giving EFFIGY the leverage of skilled, consistent guitar work that rivals the power and punch of the original artist on every song.
